A Dec. ’09 update on Sean Goldman case

Brazilian court to rule (again) on whether Sean Goldman should be returned to David Goldman, his legal and biological father. The video link is here.

Update: It seems the rule was in favor of the real father but the Brazilian family can appeal yet again. Here’s what the maternal grandmother said in a letter to the president yesterday, which I find funny as “authentically Brazilian feelings” as she calls them below have no basis in this case. It’s a legal matter and legally, we know who the child should be with.

“Silvana Bianchi, Sean’s maternal grandmother, wrote an open letter to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva just hours before the Tuesday ruling, in which she said cultural differences and international pressure were driving the case.

“Our moral foundation values the mother’s role. In the absence of the mother, the raising should be done by the grandmother,” she wrote. “That’s how it’s done in Brazil, from north to south, regardless of race, religion or social class. It’s natural that foreigners, with a different foundation, would not understand these authentically Brazilian feelings.” – Source

  1. Tudobeleza…vc pode fornecer URL’s de sites onde todos nós possamos ver os USA WE DIDN’T KNOW?! Thank you so very much! Merry Xmas!

    • Uma boa idéia, MGM! Acho que quem faz isso é babá brasileira que trabalha nos EUA. Normalmente elas escrevem muito sobre esse assunto. Seria legal saber de um site que junta os blogs dessas mulheres.

      Happy Holidays!

  2. Oh ya…..those foreigners. One of them has the name of Sean Goldman!! Any time some old woman thinks she can be a better parent that the real father has a screw loose. Will she teach him how to fish, take him to Disney World and ride the roller coasters? Will she take him water skiing and snorkeling? Of course not. She will teach him how to knit and cook.

Dave Goldman needs to sue the shirt right off her back for preventing him to raise his own child/

  3. I hope that the two are happy together and try to catch up, I am pleased by the decision of Justice that decides that David Goldman has the final and permanent custody of his biological son Sean. I hope he does not feel unhappy with his father, as David has already shown us how much he loves his son and has suffered much by its absence in recent years. I identified a lot with him, because that is what a real father would make it fight to the end and do something for the sake of the child. Will not resign myself to Sean considers his stepfather as his father who is not even his stepfather, but unfortunately his mother died. I am Brazilian and I am only a teenager and unfortunately did not know my father nor my mother live with my grandfather who has given me besides luxury, much love and affection I am very grateful to him. Sean advice that I give you:
“Give a chance for his father and try to be happy with it because he loves you and you value it, he has suffered a lot and fought in court for you, it also deserves to have his love, but do not forget your Brazilian family and try to make a perfect American that is what you should be. Your father and you are not guilty of having been separated.
Wishing you all the happiness in the world from the bottom of my heart! “
